Johnny Truss was founded in 2024 by John McManus, a longtime contractor based in Southwest Michigan. After more than 20 years of working with traditional wooden trusses, John recognized a gap in the market—steel trusses were nearly impossible to find in the Midwest. Inspired by a visit to his brother’s pole barn in Tennessee, which featured steel trusses, John began researching solutions. When local options fell short, he partnered with architects to develop and introduce steel trusses specifically designed for the demands of Southern Michigan.
